be more likely to ditch the whole plan.
So how has it been working for
Jenn? Here's her description of a
recent day. "I had a feeling that it
was going to be one of those terrible,
horrible days when I dropped the
car keys in the snowdrift outside
my door, got to work late and
opened that nasty e-mail from my
boss. But I stopped for a moment
and told myself I couldn't let the
circumstances keep me away from
God, so I started to work my plan.
I thought about Jesus and how He
suffered on the cross for me, making
the harsh e-mail bearable. I remem-
bered that in my haste, I hadn't
eaten any breakfast and I was
hungry, so I grabbed a granola bar
and a bottle of juice before I did
anything else. I knew I needed some
protective armor, so I breathed in
the gospel of peace, and buckled that
belt of truth tighter around my
waist. Finally, I gave myself grace,
forgave myself for the words that
slipped out when the keys went into
the pile of snow, and decided that
the boss' e-mail could wait until I had
a chance to talk to her face to face."
Like Jenn, we desire to be like
Jesus, to put our sin behind us
and to live a holy life. As Jenn
experienced, God is willing and
able to help us, but we've got
to do our part. Your plan
may be different than
Jenn's, still based on
biblical principles but
tailored to your lifestyle
and areas of temptation.
It truly is possible. So if
you want the power to
be a better person...
what is your plan to
stop sinning?
